An Italian prog afternoon in Holland. Sounds like heaven, isn't it?
It is, feeling very welcome as ever in this small but professional and friendly venue.
Unreal City visited here only a year ago and I enjoyed that very much so the stakes are high.
La Coscienza di Zeno
At the start of this gig I was unfamiliar with this Italian band.
But soon it was clear to me that this is a band full of highly talented members,
some are from bands like Il Tempio Delle Clessidre or Finisterre.
This is symphonic eclectic progressive rock from the highest Italian level.
Colourful, varied and unworldly compositions with a very impressive bass
line and bass player Gabriele Guidi Colombi,
a lot of keys by Luca Scherani's wizardry and the very interesting way
of singing clear vocals by Alessio Calandriello make up for a fantastic live set.
Let's not forgot modest guitarist Davide Serpico,
whose guitar sometimes was hard to hear, and the fierce drumming of Andrea Orlando.
Personally I was touched by the jazzy parts at certain songs.
A flawless show got rudely interrupted by a sudden breakdown of the synths.
The audience had a little extra break to have a drink and snack.
And when everything was fixed, everyone present wanted that song played all over again.
An historic decision because a fine song and show it was.
Thank you guys, we hope to see you again soon.

Remembering the lovely people of this band playing here only a year ago.
And here they are again, with two new members out of five.
The core of the band, Emanuele Tarasconi (keyboards and lead vocals),
Francesca Zanetta (guitar) and Dario Pessina (bass),
luckily are still there on stage before us.
Marco Garbin (drums) and Matteo Bertani (electric violin and keys) are new.
And what a difference with last year's show.
This band has grown enormously in the time of a year.
We feel young and fresh energy flowing from a coherent band!
Compositions with a broad array of twitches and switches all over,
perfectly dosed. And larded with fine pieces of jazziness as well.
A breathtaking show. Real showtime, on the encore Emanuele jumped all
over the place hammering his huge set of keys.
Try or relive it playing the video below.

The book is closed again, we've been enjoying this Italian chapter of the book
of progressive rock very much. Two truly fantastic bands,
a big crowd and a cosy venue made everyone leave with a big big smile.
Kudos to Progfrog for organising!
