Roger Waters

This was huge, 25,000 "Floyd" fans gathered together in a football stadium to listen to and watch of course the notorious Roger Waters. The sound quality was excellent but due to the fact that it was a soccer stadium and I only could see a very tiny Mister Waters and I did not really get that concert feeling ... Most of the show elements were larger than life, the flame throwers, the huge prism with the rainbow and the inflatable pig, which I already saw during the "Animals" tour of 1978 in Ahoy, Rotterdam.

The first part of the show from 20:00 till 21:15 hrs mainly consisted of Floyd songs, like e.g. the always amazing tracks "Shine On You Crazy Diamond", "Have a Cigar" and "Wish You Were". The latter I prefer with Mister Gilmour on vocals though ... The two best songs for the break in my opinion at least were "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" (from the second Floyd album way back from 1968!!) and "Sheep", from the rather underrated CD "Animals". "Leaving Beirut" was a new song which did not really impress me that much, in spite of the nice cartoon on the big screens.

After a short break of 15 minutes the soundscapes of "Speak To Me" filled the Gelredome and so we knew it was time for the Floyd classic million seller "Dark Side Of The Moon". I still get gooseflesh during magical songs like "Breathe", "Us And Them" and "Brain Damage". I never get tired of that album and before you knew it the band was back on stage for the inevitable encores like "Another Brick In The Wall Part 2" and "Comfortably Numb". The latter being one of my all time favourite Floyd tracks although nobody can play that guitar solo like David Gilmour can ...

Still I really enjoyed the show and the music and I even saw Mister Depressive smile during the show. I even heard that he is up for a reunion ?????????
